Announcements of security deployments mostly in western Syria, with an emphasis on the minority regions. Content is categorized as deployment, crime, statement, arrest, operation. This weekly update is intended to provide base level data for more holistic research into the rebuilding of the security and governance structures of post-Assad Syria. Vigilante attacks continue in Aleppo and Hama cities targeting mostly Sunni ex-regime security members. Security forces also continue their high pace of arrests in Damascus and the coast, targeting ex-regime insurgents but also increasingly hitting drug networks which has resulted in several clashes and killed security forces. In Jableh, security forces were able to arrest a large kidnapping ring impersonating General Security. Meanwhile, Alawite men continue to be kidnapped and killed in Homs and Latakia, though still at a lower rate than earlier in May.
