Announcements of security deployments mostly in western Syria, with an emphasis on the minority regions. This weekly update is intended to provide base level data for more holistic research into the rebuilding of the security and governance structures of post-Assad Syria. There was a slight increase in violence in western Syria this week. Vigilante killings renewed in Hama after a several week pause, as well as one rare vigilante killing in Damascus countryside. Anti-Alawite violence also renewed in Homs and Latakia, with several killings in the the first and one killing in the latter.

Government forces arrested several of their own security forces in Aleppo, Idlib, and Latakia, both for recent crimes as well as violations committed during the March coastal massacres and in July in Suwayda. Arrests of regime officials have decreased however, while intermittent regime insurgent attacks continue in Latakia.
